This was my first show to begin the month of August. It was a first for a lot of reasons, as it was the very first Collect Fest DFW. I got two booths for this event, and wasn't really sure what to expect for it. All I knew was that I needed to be prepared whenever it comes down to a first time show. Given that, I packed up most of my grid wall, and about 22 buckets and bins for the event. I wasn't as prepared as I had like to have been, but you can't always be.
Friday was set up and we set everything up and ended up with a fairly decent sized booth. It wasn't as big as our Retro Expo booth, but it was still super nice and had the perfect amount of stuff. We had extra help setting everything up on Friday from my Parents, and my buddies Gary and Crystal of Hippie Pop Toys & Collectibles, and my boy Thicc Ass Rick, as y'all know. We got set up done pretty fast for the night and came back in the morning to finish the last touches. Which, was probably a mistake getting there so late, since we were still setting up into the show starting (I goofed and took extra stuff).
The show itself was a lot of fun, lot of friends there and cool stuff to look at! There was sports cards, pokemon cards, art, pops, and more. The started off pretty good with sporadic rushes of people from about open to 2 or 3 pm. Lot of people stopped by the booth, but not many purchasers, but moreso window shoppers. After that, the rest of first day was a little slow. Which makes sense since there was 2 other toy shows going on at the same time in the DFW. It's not easy to bring in a full crowd, when there is other things going on.
Sunday however was a different story. Sunday was a pretty busy day for me. The booth got tons of traffic, people were buying this time around, and there were hardly any window shoppers. Down to the last final minutes of the show, sales were being made and lead to a successful weekend.
Overall, the show was a lot of fun, got to see some people that I hadn't seen in a while, and made some new customers. It's always nice to see some new faces, and break into new markets! Shout out to Markos for throwing the event, and looking forward to the next one!
